What does a noob need to know in order to start using MySQL and phpMyAdmin?
Q. I'm trying to put a database together, one containing all the movies me and my friends have seen, so that we can search them by name, release date, aspect ratio, etc.. I don't know jack about server-side scripting, and I'm totally lost. I have a domain registered and hosted. I'm using MySQL and phpMyAdmin. The book I have is telling me to download Apache, MySQL, and PHP onto my computer, but isn't all that already installed on my server? Isn't that why I'm using MySQL and phpMyAdmin on Hostmonster? Anyway, I've started making a table using phpMyAdmin. I have named 31 fields so far, but I'm not sure what "type" I should assign to each one. Is there a quick reference guide somewhere? A drop-down could be stored as an INT (you would stored which entry in the drop-down was selected, i.e. 0, 1, or 2, and so on), or you could store it as TEXT, in which case you would store the text of what was selected in the drop-down. User cannot logon to local machine?
Q. I have windows server 2008. and i create users in Active directory users and Computers. my domain name is= mekelle.local and one of my users is "mikiuser" and his password is ="letmein" then when i try to login in from other workstations(they are already joined to my domain) by using...> username="mikiuser" password="letmein" from the drop down i choose "mekelle.local" then hit Enter. login successful but now i want to log on to the local machine. then i try it using the username and password listed above but i changed the dropdown options. i choose " mekellePC1(this computer)" then hit Enter. could not login. i get the following error messages. the system could not log you on. A. There is an issue with the policy set on user groups. please give them permissions to view the folders you want them to access.

A. It would be great if there were a service to link people up. I know that there are fee-based sites that will help you. But, it would be nice to have a genealogy or relation finding site. I'm sure they could maintain privacy and provide legal protection to themselves.
