Domain Name Speculation

Domain name speculation is the practice of identifying and registering or acquiring Internet domain names with the intent of selling them later for a profit.

The main targets of domain name speculation are generic words which can be valuable for type-in traffic and for the dominant position they would have in any field due to their descriptive nature. Hence generic words and phrases such as poker, insurance, travel, creditcards, sex and others are attractive targets of domain speculation in any top-level domain.

The speculative characteristics of domain names may be linked to news reports or current events. However, the effective period during which such opportunities exist may be limited. Quick turnaround in the resale of domains is often called domain flipping.

What do famous people do if . . . .?
Q. the website which would usually follow the www.firstnamesu rname.com format was taken? Say an actor named John Kensey hit the big time and it was time to set up a website, only that some photographer names John Kensey already had the www.johnkensey. com website. Would they buy the domain from him? Would they have to change the actor's name? What would they do? Please, no speculations . . .

How long is the Siberian Tiger's Winter Pelage?
Q. I read on the internet that a Siberian Tiger s fur is approximately 21 long during winter seasons - 3 short of 2 ft! Knowing that you cannot trust everything that is submitted online, I can t help but wonder where this estimation was attained. Is there a factual, published source in circulation detailing this as an average fur-length for Siberian Tigers, or is it mere speculation born and sustained via the internet? According to every well-researched book I have read, during the winter, the Amur s pelage averages 2 at the back and nape, with a length of 2-4.5 inches at the cheeks, throat, chest and belly, accompanied by as much as 2 of fat lining the torso and abdomen. If the Tiger could sustain fur 21 long, it is doubtful that this… [cont.]

A. No Siberian tiger in this world has a coat that measure twenty one inches. That's insane. The fur indeed grows a little during the winter time and becomes lighter in color, but it's typically just a couple of inches thick. The fur that composes the facial ruff is exceptionally larger tough.

Excerpt: II. -- (continued) the history of the law of nature1 We have seen in the former part of this study that in the course of the seventeenth century the classical tradition of the Law of Nature was broken up after the Reformation controversies, with the result that in this country it has been forgotten or misunderstood ever since. Oblivion went so far that it was possible for Bentham and his followers to suppose quite honestly that the Law of Nature meant nothing but individual fancy. But at the same time that the Law of Nature ceased to be honoured among us in speculation, it was entering on new spheres of practical power. The modern law of nations was founded by Grotius on a revised scheme of natural law, and his foundations have always and everywhere been treated as sound except by one insular and unhistorical school. Grotius's doctrine Was expanded and made the common property of public men by his successors ; it was accepted in this current form by the English publicists of the eighteenth century, and thus had considerable influence on English and still moreon Scottish expositions not only of the law of nations but of public law in general. In the domain of private law the ideas of reasonableness and natural justice, which do not the less belong to the Law of Nature because they have been called by different names at different times, leapt into fresh activity, a... It is plain from the nature of the case, that the systematic investigation of the truth which belongs to salvation has never completely ceased since the birth of the Church of our Lord. Not a little has been already done, specially for the Apologetics of Christianity, and for the development of single and most important dogmas, by the ancient Church. But for Dogmatics as a whole, taken as an independent science, the first seven centuries of our era scarcely deserve a better name than that of a period of preparation. The earliest period of its history, if we denote it by a single word, has been a period of slow and gradual budding. 1. The history of the science, whilst it makes us acquainted with its past, and explains its present state, also directs our way for the future, by pointing out to us on the one side its most distinguished leaders, and on the other its threatening dangers. This history occupies a place in our introduction, not merely for completeness' sake, but because a knowledge of it, at any rate to a certain degree, is indispensable. 2. From the nature of the truth of salvation, its revelation has in every century given rise to speculation and investigation. For these it offers boundless material and a powerful stimulus; for rational faith cannot remain indifferent to that " which the angels desire to look into."' Foryears before the " fides quarit intdleclum " was uttered, it had been silently practised. Discursive thinking cannot possibly satisfy the mind ; the spirit seeks unity in its ideas, even in the highest domain of t...
